There is an abundance of food waste in the world. Perfectly good food is being thrown into trashcans everyday. Sandwiches, french fries, vegetables and more are all being tossed into the garbage at the end of the day because restaurants didn't use it.
Too Good To Go is an app that is stopping food waste.
This is how it works:
You download the app.
Order from a restaurant or cafe.
You will receive a time when you can pick up your meal.
Go to the restaurant and show your order confirmation.
Pick up your food and dig in.
"Too Good To Go is a hyper-local environment social enterprise dedicated to reducing food waste. Through the Too Good To Go app and website you can order delicious food from local restaurants, cafes and bakeries, collect it up to an hour before closing time and enjoy on-the-go in an environmentally-friendly TGTG sugarcane box. We're all about feeling good whilst eating well!"
Too Good To Go was founded in Denmark in 2015. The app was launched in Brighton and Leeds in 2016. "As of August 2016, Too Good To Go has foundations in six different countries. In the space of barely six months we've helped prevent approximately over 200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and provided thousands of meals tat would have otherwise been discarded to those in need."
This app is genius. Restaurants and cafes are able to make new meals out of the food that would normally be wasted and thrown in the garbage. Too Good To Go is allowing restaurants to provide great food and prevent food waste.

The Summer Olympics Are Changing Due To Climate Change
Could this years Summer Olympics be the last? CNN came out with an article titled Will Climate Change Stop The Summer Olympics? The article explained that "only eight cities outside of Western Europe would be viable places to host the Games by 2085, according to a new study in The Lancet."
The article in The Lancet explained that "increasing restrictions on when, where and how the Games can be held owing to extreme heat are a sign of a much bigger problem."
Other cities around the world with higher temperatures would have to cancel outdoor events.
UC Berkeley professor Kirk Smith said "if you're going to be spending billions of dollars to host an event, you're going to want have a level of certainty that you're not going to have to cancel it at the last minute."
This year around 70% of the athletes finished the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Trials in Los Angeles where the temperatures were the highest on record. According to the new study endurance events would be the "first casualty of higher temperatures-they require a lot of space, so they're usually held outside." The study used temperatures and humidity to "predict in which cities it would be the most risky to host the Summer Games outdoors using the marathon as a test case."
The study focused on cities in the Northern Hemisphere because it's home to 90% of the population.
Climate Change has been seeping deeper and deeper into our thoughts, into our news outlets and now into our Olympic games. It's time to make a change in how we view the Earth. It's important that we all make an effort to make a positive change in the Environment.

Amazon And Hyundai: Prime Now Drive Now
If you have Amazon Prime Now and live near or in the Los Angeles area you will be able to get a Hyundai delivered to your doorstep.
"Hyundai has partnered with Amazon to bring an on-demand test drive program to one of California's most densely populated urban areas as the automaker looks for new ways to reach customers."
This campaign is not permanent. It will be held during the last two weekends in August and "will give Amazon Prime subscribers living in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas a chance to order a 45-to-60-minute test drive of a 2017 Hyundai Elantra."
Amazon Prime Now is an extension of Amazon Prime. It gives people "free same-day delivery of many products including groceries and food from restaurants with their $99 annual membership."
The campaign is called Prime Now, Drive Now. You will be able to get a car delivered to your house or another location. A marketing agency called The Drive Shop will provide trained driving hosts for the test drives. After the test drive is over you will be directed to your local Hyundai dealer if you would like to buy the car.
"Automakers, which have historically used T.V. and print advertising, social media marketing and high-profile sponsorships to reach buyers, are looking for new ways to connect to younger customers who might not want to deal with the hassle of going to a dealership to test drive a car."
"Amazon Prime members now make up more than half the online retailer's customer base, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners." A study was released in July that stated Amazon has about 63 million Prime members."
Hyundai and Amazon also partnered to "let owners of its Genesis G80 and its soon-to-be-released G90 start and control their cars remotely by giving voice commands to their Amazon Echo home hub device."

Little Pine
Over the weekend I drove to Silver Lake with my daughters to check out this restaurant called Little Pine. This restaurant is 100% plant-based and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a weekend brunch menu. Moby, a very talented chef opened this little restaurant. He has been vegan for 28 years and wanted to open a restaurant that made delicious vegan food.
As you walk into the tiny restaurant there is a hostess waiting to greet you. If you look to your right there is a section where you can buy books, candles, mugs, etc. The lay out is nice and open. It's a simple and fresh atmosphere.
I got the vegan grilled cheese with a side of tomato soup. French toast and the avocado toast with a side of hash browns also made its way to our table.
If you live in the area, or even if you don't I recommend you try this restaurant out. What more can you ask for than great service, food and ambience. Those three categories is what makes a restaurant working going back to and the Little Pine gets a 10 out of 10 from me.

Farmer's Market
The farmer's market is a great place to get fresh produce and support your local businesses. This morning I headed over there with some cash in my pocket and a reusable bag. I browsed the different pop up stores for fruit and vegetables. I found some great strawberries, peaches and pluots. I grabbed some vegan cranberry cookies on the way out.
Everyone at the farmer's market was so friendly. They all had a smile on their faces and were happy to be there. I love farmer's markets because you can find great produce that you won't normally find in the market. Plus you know that you're supporting local businesses. Often times the owner of the business will be the one giving you your change or packaging your fruit for you. It's a great feeling to know that you are dealing directly with the manufacturer.
I highly suggest that you find a farmer's market near you!

Summer Olympics 2016
The Olympic opening ceremony was on Friday,August 5. As I watched country after country walk proudly amongst the crowd with their flags held high in the air, I couldn't help but smile. These athletes have worked so hard to get here. Day after day. Night after night. Years and years and years of hard work, sweat and pulled muscles to get here.
I watched as Katie Ledecky murdered her opponents and Simone Biles focus on the balance beam. I cheered as Michael Phelps swam ahead of everyone in front of him.
The olympics has just begun and it is already an event you do not want to miss.
